By Lana Bray

Making the decision to become a nursing assistant may be very easy to do. However, many individuals do not know fully what they may be getting into. There are a lot of responsibilities and obligations to patients to consider. One of those obligations is to become CPR Sacramento certified and to maintain the certification yearly.

The purpose of having CPR training is so that they can act accordingly if a person around them goes into cardiac arrest. When cardiac arrest occurs a persons heart stops functioning and the blood is no longer pumping to the brain and body at a healthy rate. Every minute counts when this happen and no one knows better than a trained professional that they must act fast.

Licensed workers know that it is their responsibility to act promptly to save the persons life. Cardiac arrest is serious and the time to save a life during the crisis is limited. Professionals can be held liable if they do not help the person and do everything in their power to save their life. Residents or patients in a hospital depend on the medical team to know their job and administer the right services needed to them in a crisis.

Medical professionals who hold the certification are bound by ethics and rules that they will perform the method in the event of an emergency situation. Failure to do so may result in a person losing their license and facing criminal or civil lawsuits. If you do not feel comfortable performing the procedure than the health care field may not be for you.

A nursing assistant must continue performing the procedure until another trained professional is on the scene. A call for help for someone to assist in the procedure should be handled first. Afterwards the worker should then begin the method as long as they are in a safe area to do so. The victim will most likely need further medical attention and will have to go to the hospital.

Usually when the EMS staff arrives they will take over performing the rescue measures. The nurse aide will need to report off to the team and then they will be relieved of their responsibility to the patient. Becoming a health care professional is a very rewarding occupation, but there are a lot of responsibilities that need to be considered.

For individuals who are serious about working in the field, it is important to understand that you are required to do everything that you can to help your patients. You are expected to keep your certifications up to date and take all in service classes when required. If you do not follow the proper rules and requirements you may lose your job and even license.

People who are interested in the field need to know how important maintaining their CPR Sacramento license is to their employment. There are several classes that are offered during the year to keep each professional up to date on their requirements. Health care workers are expected to take the class that is catered toward working in the medical field.
