During the time Jesus was walking the Earth, everyone who came into contact with him gained something from those conversations. It involved knowledge that they needed to handle the times and various people they dealt with. These conversations with Jesus surprised the people of his day as they would certainly surprise people today and even more so.
The political world would be as divided as the political world then was. Many of the ideas that politicians think about would not conform to the what would Jesus do mentality that some propose they follow. One of the many topics that would be discussed, if possible, would be war. The betterment of society would be the basis for his answers. The living of the life he has prescribed for us would be the base form which all decisions would be made. It would not be centered around the religious differences as he is the author of the tolerance he requires from all.
The subject of gun control will come up in some of these conversations. The fact that everyone wants to attribute this idea to him is amazing as he has stated that people should take up their swords and follow him. Swords being the weapon of the day, this gives a lie to people having to get permission from someone else to have and carry it.
Abortion is another topic that people think is fine for them. They have not read, apparently, the statement he made about knowing people while they were still in the womb. These people would have all believe that his words are not modern and he did not have any of the same pressures they have today. Just reading, with comprehension, some of his words would show the love and compassion he has for all.
There are many people who have stated that if they had a chance to talk to Jesus, they would tell him a thing or two. They would be wrong about this as the nature of the man and his presence would quell any thoughts they had that they know better than he does. The nature of men and women, from the earliest mention, has not changed and can not make the decisions they need to make without the insight he provides.
The people of Bible times have had their lives turned around by the discussions they have had with him. People, today, can have the same life transforming experiences if they see and read those same talks. Having the time to think about all that was said and what is being said now will give everyone a chance to rethink and recommit to the right line of reasoning.
