The Beliefs Associated With An Olive Grove Baptist Church

By Betty Wagner

There are millions of Baptists all over the world. A good percentage of them are in the United States of America. They are also in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Australia, and Asia. Followers of Christianity are more than three billion human beings. This makes Christianity to be the most popular religion on earth. It is also the fastest growing religion with thousands of conversions every week. At any given moment in time, many people are being born Christian. At the heart of an Olive Grove Baptist Church is the unshakable belief in the supremacy of the Holy Bible.

Bible belief is central to the Baptist Church. Every single Baptist teaching is backed by Bible facts. Civilizations have come and gone. Great emperors have risen and they have also fallen. However, the Bible has remained strong and steadfast. It is the source of hope to the believer. There is the New Testament of scripture. On the other hand, there is the Old Testament.

Christians believe in eternity. A real believer knows that he will not live forever because earthly life is just but a journey. He understands that there is a day when he will die and that will mark the start of eternal life. One will either go to heaven or hell after his death. It all depends on the earthly actions of a person.

Baptism is a core belief of the Baptist Church. One has to be born again. That does not imply going back to the womb. It is not a physical birth but rather it is a spiritual birth that involves immersion into the water. One will enter the water as an old creature and he will come out as a new creature.

Through the process of Baptism, one will be forgiven of all the sins that he has done in the past. There is no human being on earth who is free of sins. According to the Holy Scripture, every human being has sinned and fallen short of the glory. There is original sin that every person is born with.

One has to accept that he is a sinner. After doing so, he should ask for forgiveness. After the forgiveness of sins, an individual will need to become saved. Salvation is not the end of the road. After becoming saved, one has to repent. This involves totally changing lifestyle. One will need to get rid of his old and sinful lifestyle.

Baptists also believe in attending service. This is something that should not be taken for granted. Instead, it should be given the seriousness that it deserves. Attending the Sunday service should not be the exception. It needs to be the norm. That does not mean that one should merely be a Sunday believer. There is the need to be a true believer all the days of the week.

Religion is not in any way new in planet earth. It has existed for millenniums. Human beings will continue being religious till the end of time. The sense of religion is an integral part of the human DNA. It has been proven by the leading scholars of Ivy League universities that religion completes a person. Christianity is a religion that will make a person to become whole.
