It is not an easy process to withdraw yourself from alcohol because if you drink on a regular basis, you get the urge of drinking again after a few hours and you're forced to drink again even if you didn't want to. Alcohol detox helps you to control your withdrawal symptoms once you have stopped drinking.

Your doctor would prescribe some sort of medications that help in controlling your addiction. At first, the patient is prescribed a very heavy dose of medicine so that he doesn't relapse again. After a couple of days, the dosage is reduced to a certain extent just to check if you are able to cope with it or not. You should refrain from drinking alcohol whilst you are going through the process of detoxification.

The appointments with your GP would remain constant throughout the time as he needs to see you again and again to analyse your situation. He might also ask you to do breathalyzer test very often as he wants to make sure you're not drinking at all. Usually your closed ones are given the responsibility to take care of you and your medications.

Every individual's way of reacting to a certain situation is different this is the reason why some individuals find it an easy process. They manage it very well and are not fazed out of the withdrawal symptoms. On the other hand, some people remain unable to cope with their withdrawal symptoms and find the whole process very hard and difficult almost unbearable.

You should know that no matter how successful you are in completing your withdrawal process, you would still feel the urge to drink. But, you should know how to control that urge and compress your feelings to binge drink. You don't want to end up in the same cycle again therefore keep yourself strong and don't get caught in such situation again.

There would be days where you would find it hard to sleep, eat or drink but, if you remain persistent you will achieve what you were aiming for without any difficulty at all. If you have the required will power, then you would be amazed by the end results you gather out of the process of detoxification.

Although no one can help you as you have to help yourself and keep your will power strong throughout the process. But at the same time, your friends and family members should be there to support you and it makes the process a bit easier for you as you know that someone is there to cheer you up and keep an eye on you as well. Proper support and counselling are more than enough to convince you that you were doing wrong previously and you need to change your way of living.

Relapse can happen even if the individual have gone through the process of detoxification. You may have to take your medication for a long time period just to prevent you from relapsing in the future. If in the past. You had a strong dependency on alcohol then the whole process will get more difficult to accomplish.
