Shedding Light As We Forge Ahead Into The Darkness

By Evan Sanders

There's only a moment.

A moment where the biggest deacon of your life comes upon you. A moment in the dark.

You either run away or run towards your fear.

The challenges that face us are there to determine whether we truly want it bad enough or not. We fight like hell to show our best stuff and time after time we are tried and tried again.

But the big decision to be made is all yours.

Do you run off?

Or do you anchor in?

This moment had arrived upon my doorstop only a few days ago and I had to make one of the biggest decisions of my life. Initially I thought it would bring about more confusion, but interestingly enough, it brought about a sense of peace and clarify.

How could it bring about such peace?

How do you face your fear?

You dig deep down into your soul and understand exactly who and what you stand for. When you know what you are all about, it is far easier to face your fears.

Then, forge ahead.

You're almost there, don't quit now.

You can just imagine the Captain of your ship gripping onto the helm as tight as possible screaming to his men to continue forward. There are no old ways. There's no turning back. There's only what's right in front of you.

At times, we lose our focus and our momentum.

We can get discouraged by the lack of movement forward and stray from the plan that is designed to keep us moving ahead.

But when we face our deepest fears, our purpose returns back to us.

And when your purpose comes back, there's a fire deep inside of you raging to continue on.

We strive to be the grandest versions of ourselves daily and most of the time we come up short. But that's the beautiful part of all of this. Because without seeing beyond what we are right now we can never grow. We must see what is inside of us and attempt to bring out those characteristics to the best of our ability.

Yes we will fail.

But there's great victory in even the defeats.

Take incredible amounts of pride in your persistence.

Take pride in the effort you have given in the past.

Your scars and your victories define you. They make you. They are things to be proud of.

These are our heroes. Those who may not necessarily be in the lights...but who forge ahead in the darkness...shedding a light of their own.
